Bitcoin is now available at 874  self-service payment terminals across Romania, thanks to a partnership between ATM operator Bitcoin Romania and terminal network operator ZebraPay. The ZebraPay terminals will allow customers to buy bitcoin at a 4% commission on prices taken from the  Cointrader  exchange. The terminals are one-way, so customers can only trade their Romanian leu for bitcoin. The terminals do not require customers to hand over identification documents when buying bitcoin. The service has been available for two days but it has already sold 7.2 BTC, underscoring bitcoin’s growing popularity in the country. ZebraPay chief executive Adrian Badea told CoinDesk: “It’s weird because we haven’t even launched it officially yet. October 2014  –  HEALTH  -  A person in Quebec with symptoms of the Ebola virus is being treated in a hospital in Abitibi-Témiscamingue. According to the regional health and social services agency, the patient was recently in contact with people who may have been exposed to Ebola. “I have to highlight that our suspicion is very weak,” said Dr. Éric Lampron-Goulet, a regional public health official. “We did a test out of precaution.” Lampron-Goulet said the patient has a fever and that, combined with having contact with West African travelers, is sufficient to merit tests. He said the patient has been isolated while the tests are underway. Tests have been sent to the public health laboratory in Quebec and results are expected within 24 to 36 hours. He also said Quebec's health system is prepared for Ebola is following the procedure for treating suspicious cases. – CBC

L’attuale situazione  nella quale versa la discarica di Ca’ Filissine ,  obbliga ad alcune necessarie riflessioni, che dovrebbero quanto meno mettere a fuoco l’attuale stato di criticità . October 2014  –  MADRID  -  A second case of Ebola may have been detected in Madrid on Tuesday, a spokesman for the Ministry of Health told El Mundo newspaper. Like the first victim announced on Monday, the second victim was part of a medical team treating two now deceased victims of Ebola: a Spanish priest, Miguel Pajares, and missionary Manuel García Viejo. Media reports said the second victim is in isolation at Hospital Carlos III, along with the first medical worker and her husband. Overstock.com CEO Patrick Byrne said previously he had some interesting announcements to share  when it comes to bitcoin and his company, and today, Byrne certainly did make an announcement at a bitcoin conference in Las Vegas. The news? Overstock.com has hired two CounterParty developers to code up put together an decentralized stock exchange of sorts that will allow companies — including Overstock — to issue financial securities securely over the web, atop the CounterParty platform (which works over the bitcoin block chain). In essence, bypassing today’s centralized stock exchanges. The project is code-named “Medici,” and Overstock plans to spin the project off into its own company in effort to continue the software’s development.

October 2014  – SIERRA LEONE  -  A leading charity has warned that a rate of five new Ebola cases an hour in Sierra Leone means healthcare demands are far outstripping supply. Save the Children said there were 765 new cases of Ebola reported in the West African state last week, while there are only 327 beds in the country.  Experts and politicians are set to meet in London to debate a global response to the crisis. It is the world's worst outbreak of the virus, killing 3,338 people so far. There have been 7,178 confirmed cases, with Sierra Leone, Liberia and Guinea suffering the most. The number of people infected and dying from the disease is being vastly underreported. Save the Children says Ebola is spreading across Sierra Leone at a “terrifying rate,” with the number of new cases being recorded doubling every few weeks.  It said that even as health authorities got on top of the outbreak in one area, it spread to another .
