IBM Joins Consensus 2016 As Exclusive Four Block Sponsor

IBM is officially joining Consensus 2016 as the conference’s exclusive Four Block sponsor, adding yet another marquee name to the sponsor list for the event, to be held from May 2-4 at the Marriott Marquis in New York City.
As a founding member of the open-source Linux Foundation Hyperledger project, and a driver of global blockchain collaboration and innovation, IBM is working to reimagine business networks across industries such as finance, healthcare, insurance, supply chains and Internet of Things.

To date, Hyperledger has attracted leading financial institutions including the London Stock Exchange (LSE) and Japan Exchange Group (JPX), two of the world’s largest stock exchange operators.
Jerry Cuomo, vice president, Blockchain Technologies, IBM, said:
"IBM is excited to be a sponsor of Consensus 2016 where we are sharing ideas on blockchain, advancing the powerful open source approach, and helping business advance towards a mature technology to utilize blockchain at scale."
IBM has more than 700 people dedicated to specific open-source projects and approximately 10,000 employees involved in some way with open-source software, such as Linux, Node.js and Hyperledger.
Cross-industry collaboration will be on full display at Consensus 2016, where some of the industry’s most exciting innovators will be on hand to discuss the pressing issues facing the emerging technology today.
"We are thrilled to welcome IBM as our exclusive four-block sponsor at Consensus 2016," said CoinDesk team lead, Ryan Selkis. "Our attendees will greatly benefit from IBM's active participation at this year's event, from the company's contributions to our Building Blocks hackathon to their insights on major panels."
With the news, IBM joins Consensus 2016 title sponsor Deloitte, as well as other major sponsors including CME Group, ConsenSys, Santander and Symbiont.
Sessions at the three-day event will be divided into ‘Business’ and ‘Technical & Policy’ tracks that highlight the opportunities facing the blockchain community, such as the potential of the technology in industries as far reaching as capital markets, the global supply chain and the IoT.
Confirmed speakers include industry CEOs (Bill Barhydt, Abra; Charles Cascarilla, itBit), technology leaders (Vitalik Buterin, Ethereum; Gavin Andresen, Bitcoin) and government representatives (Larry Summers, former US Treasury Secretary; Jack Markell, Governor of Delaware).
IBM Blockchain leaders Jerry Cuomo, Gari Singh, distinguished engineer, and John Wolpert, director of global offerings, will be speaking as well.
