TREZOR Firmware Updated to 1.5.0 ERC-20, Litecoin SegWit, and Rootstock in TREZOR

Time flies by so quickly! Just look what happened to the price of bitcoin, ethers, litecoins, etc., in the meantime. TREZOR development cannot just lag behind! Therefore, today’s update brings you several new improvements: full support for ERC-20 tokens and initial support for Rootstock (RSK). Additionally, TREZOR is now ready for SegWit on Litecoin and on Bitcoin Testnet.
Let’s have a closer look!
This is a stable version of TREZOR Firmware. However, as it is not yet useful for a majority of users, the update will only be available on the TREZOR Beta Wallet. Make sure you have your Recovery seed with you before updating firmware.
Version 1.5.0
* Stable, Optional update
* Enable ERC-20 tokens for Ethereum chains
* Enable Segwit for Testnet and Litecoin

TREZOR Fully Supports Ethereum Tokens (ERC-20)

Keen users might have already figured out that you can use your Ethereum addresses on TREZOR to store your ERC-20 tokens. If you are one of those, you might have also noticed that when signing transactions with tokens, you would not see the value and the addresses on your TREZOR display. Instead, you were asked to sign a message.
This is no longer the case. Starting with this iteration of TREZOR firmware, TREZOR fully supports all current ERC-20 tokens. The device will display transaction details, such as the token type, value, as well as the transaction fee. You will be asked to confirm your transaction on TREZOR and then ultimately on MyEtherWallet.
Sending ERC-20 Tokens: Before & After Firmware 1.5.0
To receive ERC-20 tokens, use your Ethereum address generated by TREZOR. To send your tokens, unlock your Ethereum wallet on MyEtherWallet and fill in the transaction details, as well as the token type. Remember, that you will need to own some ethers on the same account in order to successfully pay for the transaction.
More information on how to use ERC-20 tokens is available in the guide on Ethereum with MyEtherWallet. Instead of sending Ethers though, send your tokens.

Getting Ready for Litecoin SegWit in TREZOR

We at SatoshiLabs would like to congratulate Litecoin, for successfully activating SegWit! As Segregated Witness would be greatly beneficial for TREZOR, we would be remiss if we did not support SegWit as soon as possible. TREZOR will handle both Legacy and new SegWit accounts seamlessly and clearly: giving you an option to work with both. Further information on how to use SegWit accounts will be released soon — in a separate news article on the related TREZOR Wallet update.
SegWit accounts on Litecoin will be fully usable from the next release of TREZOR Beta Wallet. Today’s firmware release is a preparatory step towards full support. Litecoin SegWit on Beta Wallet can give you a good picture of how SegWit will work when it is activated on Bitcoin.

Announcing Rootstock (RSK) Support in TREZOR

Rootstock brings smart contract technology to Bitcoin, aiming to improve the entire ecosystem. That is why we will support Rootstock in TREZOR, as well as merge-mine it on Slush Pool.
— Marek “Slush” Palatinus
The potential of Rootstock and its efforts to bring smart contracts to Bitcoin is undeniable. We look forward to seeing further developments of RSK, especially after the recent release of RSK’s public testnet — Ginger. Starting with this release we are becoming a part of this continuing development, namely by implementing support for RSK in TREZOR.
